Project Walk New Jersey has successfully treated individuals with conditions including spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, ALS, spina bifida, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s, amputees, declined mobility in the elderly along with various other conditions.
Improved Level of Function
The majority of our clients improve their function below the level of injury.
Many of our clients find that after starting our program they are able to decrease or eliminate their medication program.
All of the exercises at Project Walk NJ will be completed outside of the wheelchair. The emphasis is on load-bearing activities that may help increase client function, bone density, muscle mass, sensation, and circulation.
Improved Quality of Life
The combination of exercise and decrease in medication ultimately may result in an increase in health and an improved quality of life. Through an intense exercise program, your body may become more resilient to common paralysis ailments such as pressure sores, urinary tract infections, low blood pressure and poor circulation.
Social and Psychological Support
Clients have the opportunity to connect with people who have similar stories thus discovering that they are not alone in this process. Clients have the support of their peers and specialists who work with spinal cord injuries and those affected by paralysis on a daily basis.
Everyone needs hope. Without hope, you cannot recover. You will find throughout our programs that hope is not discouraged but found within our staff and most importantly our clients.
